Privacy Policy
QuoteDiary helps you save, organize, scan, and share quotes. This Privacy Policy explains what data the QuoteDiary iOS app and its widget extension handle, why that data is used, when data may leave your device, and what choices you have.
QuoteDiary does not include advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, or third-party analytics SDKs.
Your quotes are stored on your device. With iCloud Sync on — the default — a copy also lives in your own private iCloud account, never on a server of ours.
Exports, share sheets, and scanning run only when you ask for them. iCloud Sync starts on and can be switched off at any time.

Data QuoteDiary Handles
The information you create in QuoteDiary may include quotes, authors, book titles, notes, tags, colors, collections, reading context, and other details you choose to save. This is user-created content and is primarily stored locally on your device.
The QuoteDiary widget extension may read quote data from shared local app storage so it can display selected quotes on your Home Screen or Lock Screen.

Data Collection, Tracking, and App Store Privacy
Apple's App Store privacy labels distinguish between data that is collected, linked to you, and used to track you. QuoteDiary is designed to be local-first: quote library data is kept on your device, and leaves it only through iCloud Sync — which is on by default and can be switched off — a book-lookup feature, or content you choose to share or export. None of those routes send your library to the developer.
QuoteDiary does not use data for third-party advertising, developer advertising, marketing, analytics profiling, or tracking across apps and websites. QuoteDiary does not link your app activity with third-party data for advertising or advertising measurement.
Book Search and System Services
When you search for a book by title, author, or ISBN, QuoteDiary may send the search term or ISBN to the Google Books API to return matching book information. Google may process these requests according to its own privacy practices.

Google Books is the only third-party service QuoteDiary contacts. The app contains no advertising, tracking, attribution, or analytics SDKs of any kind.
QuoteDiary may occasionally ask you to rate the app. That prompt is presented by Apple's own App Store rating service; the developer receives no personal information from it, and cannot tell whether you responded.
iCloud Sync
iCloud Sync is on by default on a new installation, provided your device is signed in to an Apple Account with iCloud available. The first-run screens tell you this and let you switch it off before you begin, and you can change it later at any time in QuoteDiary's Preferences. If you are updating from an earlier version, whatever you chose before is kept.
While it is on, your quote library — collections, quotes, authors, notes, tags, colours, and any cover images you added — is synced through your own Apple Account, into its private iCloud database, so it can appear on your other Apple devices. This is the same mechanism iOS uses for other apps' iCloud data.
With sync switched off, your library exists only on the device it was created on, and nothing about it leaves that device.
The developer has no access to that data. It is not stored on, routed through, or readable by any server operated by the developer, who cannot see your library, tell how large it is, or tell whether you have sync switched on at all.
While sync is enabled, Apple's push service is used to tell the app that something changed on another device so it knows to fetch it. These are silent, system-level messages tied to syncing only — QuoteDiary does not send marketing or promotional notifications.
You can turn iCloud Sync off again in Preferences at any time, which stops further syncing. Data already in iCloud stays in your account until you remove it, which you can do from iOS Settings under your Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Permissions
QuoteDiary requests camera access only when you open a feature that needs it — scanning text from a page, scanning an ISBN barcode, or adding a cover photo to a collection. You can grant, deny, or later change camera permission in iOS Settings. If camera permission is disabled, those features will not work, but the rest of the app can still be used.
On a device where no camera is available, the cover-photo picker falls back to the system photo picker so you can choose an existing image. QuoteDiary receives only the single image you pick; it is never given access to browse your photo library.
The artwork offered as a backdrop when you share a quote ships inside the app. Choosing one of those backgrounds does not read anything from your photos.
Sharing and Exporting
QuoteDiary lets you export or share quotes. Sharing happens only when you choose a share or export action. Once content is shared outside QuoteDiary, that content is handled by the receiving app, service, or person.
Data Retention and Deletion
QuoteDiary keeps your saved quote data until you edit or delete it, or remove the app. If you switched iCloud Sync off before adding anything, or it was never available on your device, your library only ever existed on that device, and deleting the app removes it with no copy left behind.
If iCloud Sync is or was enabled, a copy remains in your own iCloud account after the app is deleted, so that reinstalling and signing in to the same Apple Account restores it. You can remove that copy yourself from iOS Settings under your Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. The developer cannot remove it for you, because the developer has no access to it.
Children's Privacy
QuoteDiary is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children through advertising, analytics, or tracking services.
Security
QuoteDiary relies on iOS app sandboxing, local device storage protections, the system permission prompts, and — while iCloud Sync is on — Apple's iCloud infrastructure and the protections of your own Apple Account. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but QuoteDiary is designed to limit data sharing to the features you choose to use.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect app changes, legal requirements, or clarification of existing practices. If the policy changes, the effective date above will be updated.
